Education is essential to our country’s continued growth and prosperity. Every student should be able to receive a quality education regardless of their family’s socioeconomic background.

I know how important a good education is and how it can impact an individual’s life. As a product of public education, I have experienced the system first-hand from high school through postgraduate university. I worked my way through college with the assistance of the work-study program in addition to being subsidized by Pell Grants and government guaranteed student loans, and would not have been able to graduate from college had these programs been eliminated.

I am committed to:

  • Protecting student access to low interest loans to ensure equal access to education.

  • Increasing the award and amount of Pell Grants to open up educational possibilities to those who may otherwise be unable to pursue an education.

  • Protecting the Post 9/11 GI Bill, ensuring that our veterans receive the education that they deserve.

  • Lowering the amount of tuition hikes that public universities are allowed to impose with each passing semester.

  • Fighting for afterschool program funding for tutoring, arts, music and languages.

  • Supporting the hiring of more secondary and elementary school teachers to lower class size and allow more attention to be paid to individual students.
